This is a late Edo/early Meiji jinashi made from relatively slender bamboo.
It has a soft, melodious tone that extends into the 3rd octave.
It has a hairline split in the upper part that extends into the utaguchi face that was repaired
long ago. The red lacquer that was used in the repair was removed from the blowing face
to inspect the crack, and it was found to be stable.
The foot was also grafted on during the time of making, likely to acheive the required length.
Myoan style ivory inlay.
